Martha Graham Dance Company

On Saturday, I saw the Martha Graham Dance Company perform at City Center. It was such an amazing experience. They performed Cave Of The Heart, a dance about Medea and Jason, Inner Resources, a new work by Marie Chouinard, Rust, and Chronicle. Each piece conveyed so much feeling and told a story. My personal favorite was Rust, which told a story about torture and prisoners. Each dancer really made the story seem real, and the music added even more.

Chronicle

Hamilton

Hamilton is a musical about Alexander Hamilton; a founding father of the United States. He wrote the Federalist Papers with John Jay and ---, married Elizabeth Schuyler and had 8 children before being shot by his enemy Aaron Burr. The musical tells his life story with a not so normal Broadway soundtrack. I found a video of some scenes and found the dances to be interesting. The dances have lots of isolations and quick movements.

Also, some songs I would suggest to listen to would be:
  • The Schuyler Sisters
  • Aaron Burr, Sir
  • Dear Theodosia
  • Guns and Ships
  • You'll Be Back
  • Cabinet Battle #1
  • What'd I Miss
